ESSEX SPANIEL GET-TOGETHER

One of our members, Dave Cobb, lost his father in August this year to Pulmonary Fibrosis; a disease of the lungs with no cure and limited treatment.  To try and raise money to help with the research into this, Dave, his son and son-in-law are planning to do a 24 hour, 204km (equates to 6 times across the English Channel) row on a rowing machine on 21-22 January 2012.  If you would like to sponsor them please go to www.justgiving.com/row24.  Dave has asked us to thank anyone who gives their support.  23/01/12 - Updated news - Dave, his son and son-in-law reached their 204km target at 5.45am on Sunday; they went on to complete a total of 268.95km in the 24 hours and have raised at least £1,552.

Our Club was founded by several local enthusiasts in 1968.  We published our first meeting in the Shooting Times and had a great response from near and far. Spaniel personalites gave their support to the Club and included Sir Joshua Rowley.  The club has gone from strength to strength and we currently have circa 90 members.  Many of our members, both past and present, have achieved awards with their spaniels and some have even gone on to become 'A' Panel Spaniel Judges.

We hold 6 training classes in Essex during April to June each year.  We have a Fun Day in July followed by a Novice Working Test, an Open Working Test and the final event of the year in September is an inter-club Match with the Three Shires Spaniel Club.  This Match has been taking place for over 30 years.

We always welcome new Members to the Club.  If you would like more information please call Steve Newman on 01245 612371 or 07904 032401 or send an email to mail@essexspanielget-together.com.
