Open Test - 15th August 2010 held at Fallow Hall, St Osyth

We held our Open Test at Fallow Hall, St Osyth by kind permission of Mr and Mrs E Grieg.

Our judges for the day were Paul Rawlings and Robin Laud.

The weather was kind to us again and the day dawned fair.

The competition started early on the day with two teams attempting to erect the white (which turned up in Bob's car!) and green gazebos.  The race was on ...... the green team won by a mile as the white team abandoned their gazebo!

On the first run, after a hunt up the first dog received a seen retrieve with a distraction shot once it had picked the dummy.  The second dog was then sent for a blind retrieve.  Following another hunt up, the retrieves were performed in reverse order.  All dogs hunted into a head wind on their first runs.

The water retrieve was held between first and second runs and was kept straightforward.

The second run took the same format as the first run, except this time the dogs were hunted on a back wind beat.

We broke for lunch and the judges' totted up their books.  There was a run off between David Cobb, Rod Skeet and Peter Bendall for Best Hunting Dog.

At the end of the day the results were announced:

1st      Bennets Bouncer handled by Rod Skeet (also Most Stylish Dog)

2nd     Cheweky Ice Cracker handled by Peter Bendall (also Best Handler)

3rd      Rathlakan Carrick of Abbeyoaks handled by Wendy Knight

4th      Moonlight Earl handled by David Cobb (also Best Hunting Dog)

COM's   Belvden Tree Pippit at Cedarose handled by David Lloyd,  Dora is Dashing handled by George Parkison, Cynhinfa Fearless handled by Bob Goodspeed

Congratulations to all the winners and everyone else who took part.

We must also thank the Judges for giving all handlers and dogs as fair a run as possible.

We owe a big thank you to the following people, without their help the day wouldn't have run smoothly:

The helpers on the day:  David Standing, Noddy, Malcolm, David Knight, Jane, Michelle

and, David Cobb who liaised with the Griegs regarding the ground.
