We held our Fun Day on Sunday 11th July 2010. It was a very hot day, but we still had a great turn-out of members and their families. We started the day with a mock working test. Thank you to everyone who helped out, especially Wendy and Julie who once again kindly agreed to judge the entries. There are too many other people to name but thank you to everyone who did blinds, threw dummies, shot the gun and the multitude of other jobs that needed doing. Hopefully everyone who entered had a good time and picked up some training tips as well. As well as doing the test, all entrants were judged for their Shooting Companion Certificate. Congratulations to everyone that passed, and commiserations to those that didn't. Remember there is always next year! After the test was completed, it was back to the cars for lunch. We once again owe a HUGE THANK YOU to Graham Kidwell for supplying the burgers and sausages for no fee. We must also thank Jane and Gary Ward for running the barbecue - they had only landed back at Gatwick at midnight on Sunday morning. We started the afternoon's events with the Fun Day Scurry. It was a hard-fought contest with Bob Goodspeed and Roly holding top position for most of the event. However, with almost the last run of the day Wendy Knight and Domino pipped them for the trophy. Congratulations Wendy and Bad Luck Bob! We finished the day with Fetch the Sausage. This always produces great amusement. This year we had 4 successful entrants: Sue Musselwhite with Chilli, Gill Cutter with Folly, John Ford with Salt and Caroline Watts with Tara. Well done to all of you. This event is also a fund-raiser for the club and we expect it to have raised in the region of £180 this year. As soon as we have final figures these will be published. We would also like to thank David Standing and Lesley Young who captured the day on film. The gallery will be updated in due course. We hope everyone had a really great day, enjoyed themselves and will support the Fun Day again next year! |
